Braintheft are a live Darkdub/Dubstep four piece band from Ireland and France. The band was formed in September 2016 and travelled back in time to the year 2008 in Berlin. Developed from the sounds of Dubstep, Dub & Triphop, the creative force of Braintheft is constructing a wall of sound combined with Heavy Bass lines, Breaks, Samples and full live instrumentation.
This really is something special to kick off the summer.
Blawan, with only one release out on Hessle Audio was jumped on my label giant R&S, who have on their roster talent such as Aphex Twin, Model 500 + James Blake. Now we have him for his first Irish appearance, DubCulture back in the driving seat!
Hessle Audio released Blawan's Fram/Iddy, which truely is a haunting, hard percussion driven beast. Check it out here, fuckin spooky!
(Buy it here http://boomkat.com/vinyl/303581-blawan-fram-iddy)
R&S then in true pioneering style jumped on the producer spotting his obvious talent, releasing the HUGE Bohla EP, which demonstrates his true diversity. My favourite, with a lovely 303 flex Bohla, HUGE!!!
This weekend on the west coast of Ireland, the 5th annual Community Scratch Games takes place in Galway city. Ireland's best free music festival and to the best of my knowledge the only hiphop festival in the country.
i also wanted to put up a link to addison groove's excellent new release on tectonic called is this it but theres nothing good going round so instead im gonna recommend this awesome mix by pinch from a few months back that it was in:
Phew! well that one got outta hand quick! big up eomac for a cracker of a set, thoroughly enjoyed it, great to see juke going down so well on the floor also. takes a great dj to pull it off i think. out to Sol and Will @ SSL Events for the sound also, some rig. Void4Life
next up we've synkro and indigo in Cork, grab more info here but id be presuming you know the craic with these guys by now..
My Favourite producer at the moment, Blawan, will be gracing the decks in May, thats all I can say at the moment. Trust me, I'm like a kid waiting to go to Disneyland right now! Heres my favourite tune of his at the moment, a remix, out on warp last year. Sick.

Alright people, I have some news for you about our bookings and other dubstep acts at life. Bellow is a list of the bass music and what day they are playing on, in no particular order, roll on Life 2011. See you guys for Galways first night of bass music on the 8th in Carbon (GALWAY) with EOMAC :-)
Seven was a right good buzz on thursday. Most of the crew sessioned on in proper dubculture style til Jonesy's set the following night before Nicky Blackmarket before heading Plaid which was great as well.
Then onwards to the the National Skydiving intervarsity where we were rockin the sounds all night.
Nice on to Seven for coming over and everyone for coming out.
Next big un is with Eomac in our new home, formerly the GPO, Carbon on Eglington st, Galway.

When the anals of the golden era of dubstep written in years to come, Kromestar will undoubtedly be mentioned among the greats with possibly the biggest back catalogue of them all. Just got round to his new album today. I was delighted to find its excellent. Really soulful vibe to it. dig
Another mad aul weekend ahead...and me sitting here with a touch of a flu...ugh!
Anyway, I'm sure you know already but we have the might DJ Distance over tomorrow to smash up the pavilion
On Friday night me and almost the entire dubculture crew will be re-grouping (quite a rare occasion now i think about it!) for a very good cause (we're throwin stella out a plane for Ability West, a charity in aid of metally handicapped children)
Also if yer in Cork our mates over at EU have radioactive man in.
Sub:era have DJ Krust in on Saturday also which might be worth a look!
This track was an interesting offering from him early this year. Clearly inspired by all that good minimal shit thats coming out of the revived dnb scene in the UK in the last 12 months, Distance's 12'' on autonomic was a very fine offering. heres the A-side
West coast national treasure and long time hero of mine mynameisjohn has a fantastic release out. you can check more about it here and download for free, mastered by the person...its a cracking listen, well hooked
Righto - We've Distance pencilled in for February 24th in the Pav
Sorry for the late notice but couldn't be avoided. Anyway, if you've been into dubstep for a while you'll know the score with this guy. A fantastically versatile producers but perhaps best known for his metal sounding riffs in such unreal classics as this:
Steve had him up in Galway about a year and a half ago and he played definitely what I'd consider one of top 3 sets i've ever heard at a dubculture gig so it is with little doubt that I say hes going to smash the place up.
This ones our first thursday gig in the pav, we'll still be doing a monthly weekend date touch wood but we'll probably be doing the odd thursday and trying out different things over the next few months....but for this one if you can blog it, post it on your facebook (or just shite on about it in general!) it'd be a great help
in the mean time you can grab a nice mix by him for RBMA last summer here:
In an effort to keep myself busy i'l be contributing occasionally to a fine online cork based publication from time to time entitled We Are Noise. The first of such contributions is a review of Eomac's excellent new EP entitled, er, EP - One on limerick's hsuan recordings. diggin the first track lots and lots.
Our newly we Paul ENFP put this together after we had headhunter over last year, but I only just watched it now! best guest we've had over in cork in my opinion. the video features the footcrab vip which was v fresh at the time, and that choon (probably by joker) thats been doing the rounds the last few months. enjoy
